Welcome to the Law Review’s Fall Recruiting Drive

The Law Review is entirely run by students who are enrolled at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law.  The Law Review is staffed in two stages: Masthead positions are filled in the spring; editorial and production teams are assembled in the fall.  We accept everyone who would like to join our editorial and production teams, from all years, regardless of previous experience (with limited exceptions*).

Below you will find a brief summary of editorial and production opportunities on the Law Review, as well as detailed guides to working on the Law Review for first years and upper years, respectively.  We also encourage you to attend our information sessions being held in the Moot Court Room on Tuesday, Sept. 9 and Thursday, Sept. 11, over the lunch hour. Please contact the Outreach & Development Manager, Maria Golarz (maria.golarz@utoronto.ca) if you have any questions about the sign-up process.

If you would like to sign up for the Law Review, please download the form below and return it to us by Friday, September 12 at 5PM; via email to law.review@utoronto.ca (subject line: “[class year] application”, e.g. “1L application”), or by hand, to our mailbox in Falconer Hall.

Opportunities for First Year Students

First year editors play a foundational role in our editorial process by helping to select articles for publication and/or as part of a production team responsible for polishing those articles once they are selected. They may also apply to participate in the production of “in-house” writing and research as part of our Year in Review staff.

Outreach and Development Assistants are involved in the administrative side of the Law Review. Assisting with outreach and development is a great way to get to know the upper-years, and to become familiar with a variety of legal contacts.

Opportunities for Upper Year Students

Upper year editors are relied upon for their subject-matter expertise and the guidance they can provide to first years during the editorial process, and may also apply to participate in the production of “in-house” writing and research as part of our Year in Review and Notes, Comments and Reviews staffs.

*Students who would like to contribute to the Year in Review, and upper year students who would like to join the Notes, Comments and Reviews staff are asked to submit a resume and 10 page writing sample.
